This Intensive Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Certificate Course (Basic to Intermediate) is designed for yoga practitioners of all skill levels, from those without prior experience to those who have put in years of practice. It is also for those who are interested in advancing their skills to a certified level of instruction.

Through this course, students gain a more in-depth knowledge of yoga as well as a deeper insight into the different types of yoga and their philosophies of the practice. Students also learn the scientifically proven basic series, the curative sequence of Guruji Dr. Asana Andiappan under the guru’s personal guidance, and how it is applied to address various ailments.

This course is not just limited to aspiring yoga teachers; it is open to everyone who is interested in learning about the fascinating history, origin, and philosophy of Ashtanga Yoga.

Accommodation

Students who have opted for the residential course can stay at the fully-furnished rooms at the School.  The accommodation is fully furnished for a comfortable stay of the students. Each room is provided with attached bathroom, wardrobe, writing table, television, intercom, hair dryer, air conditioner, free Wi-Fi, bath towels, Laundry facilities are also available within the same venue or nearby laundry shops.

We also offer assistance in registering with Yoga  Alliance and International Yoga Academy after the completion of the course.

Yoga Alliance is an international governing board for yoga teachers and training programmes in the U.S and globally. Graduates of our programme are automatically eligible to register as an RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) with Yoga Alliance. Becoming an RYT means having a higher profile and gaining international recognition as a yoga teacher, attributes that many hiring yoga studios look for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  There are many yoga schools and yoga ashrams in India. Why should I enrol in Andiappan College of Yoga and Research Centre? What sets your school apart?

Q:   I have been practicing yoga for only three months. Am I eligible to enroll in your teacher training courses?

A:    Yes you may, with the exception of our Advanced Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Course, where we require students to have had at least 6 months of regular yoga practice. Otherwise, the rest of our teacher training courses are open to students of all levels. These courses offer great foundational knowledge of yoga, particularly yoga philosophy, theories,  basic practices, and teaching methods.

Q:  Is there a fee I need to pay to confirm my enrollment?

A: Yes, you need to pay a 50% non-refundable deposit to confirm your enrollment. The rest of your tuition fee may be paid upon arrival at the training venue.

Q:  How long does it take between the time I apply for a course and the time I can confirm my enrollment?

A:    Admissions to our courses begin three months prior to their start dates. Because we admit only 15 students per course, slots will get filled up quickly. We recommend that you fill up your application online as soon as we have available courses, and make your deposit as soon as we have confirmed your admission, usually within three-five days of your application.

Q:  What if I decide to change my course date; are there any charges?

A:    Changing your course schedule at least one month prior to the start date incurs no charges. Otherwise, we charge an admin fee of  US$ 50 to reschedule your training. Please be advised that your new schedule—start date and time period—should fall within three months of your original schedule.

Q:  What do I need to bring with me for the training?

A:    We provide everything you will need in yoga training, from towels, yoga mats, and yoga wear. All we recommend you to bring are personal casual wear; particularly loose, comfortable clothing to go with India’s warm climate, and whatever else you would normally pack for a Holiday.

Q:  How does one prepare for your teacher training courses?

A:   You need to confirm your registration at least one month before the course’s start date by paying a 50% non-refundable deposit in order to secure your slot.

We also recommend that you get a head start on our required reading materials by purchasing the materials through our online store and reading them before you embark on the training. This isn’t a requirement, but doing so will give you an idea of what to expect, preparing you better mentally and physically as you anticipate full immersion in the training.

Q:  Where is Chennai, and what is it like?

A:    Chennai is one of India’s tourist-friendliest places; a well-developed cosmopolitan city similar to Hong Kong, and home to various multinational companies such as PayPal, Nokia, Samsung, Hyundai, and Ford, as well as a string of 5-Star hotels  It is absolutely safe to travel to Chennai; in fact, it is among the top Travel Destinations for students across the world who wants to learn yoga.

The Asana Andiappan College of Yoga and Research Centre is located in the prominent locality of Anna Nagar, where many of the country’s state ministers and high-profile government officials reside. Surrounding the campus are banks shopping malls, and tourist attractions, as well as a bus terminal and train station within walking distance.

The campus is attended by security guards on 24-hour duty, backed up by an electrical generator, and supplies clean water all day round. Internet, as well as telephone connections, are available. Other amenities such as the organic juice bar and Natural Diet Restaurant can be found within the campus, presided by the college’s friendly staff. Q:  Can you issue me an admission confirmation letter so I could apply for the visa to travel to India?

A:  Once you have confirmed your admission with payment we will issue the payment invoice with the details of the admission to the course.

Q: What is the visa requirement for foreign students to study this Residential Yoga Courses in India?

 Q:   Can airport pickup and drop-off be arranged?

A:    Yes, in fact, airport pickup and drop-off are included in your course fee if you have opted for Residential Mode. Just send us your itinerary and we shall arrange for pickups and drop-offs accordingly. Even if your flight arrives at Midnight or early morning, our center will arrange airport pickup.

Q:   Am I allowed to travel out of the campus between training sessions?

A: Yes, you are. We offer tour vans for rent, and members of our friendly staff are more than willing to drive you to town and show you around, whether you would like to visit a local tourist spot or do some shopping. Exceptions are made for travel to farther destinations, though, such as Pondicherry and other outlying cities, until the end of the training program.

However, we strongly advise our students to stay focused through the duration of the training period and dedicate downtime between sessions to reading and self-practice, in order to make the most of the opportunity. Normally, we offer planning assistance to students who would like to make trips after the end of the training.

Q:  Can I extend my stay in the campus after the course? If so, how much are your extension fees?

A:    Yes,  you can let us know the dates well in advance so that we can plan the accommodation. The cost of shared accommodation is INR 2500 per day.

Q:  Is your school accredited by Yoga Alliance USA? Can I apply for a Yoga Alliance Registration upon completion of my course?

A:  All our teacher training programs are registered with Yoga Alliance USA, and yes, students may apply for registration upon completion of the course. However, successful course completion requires submitting an assignment, which is scheduled at the end of every training period. Students who qualify are then granted a Course Graduation Certificate, which is registered with Yoga Alliance USA (RYS 200,300 & 500 and ERYT 500), as well as Asana Andiappan College of Yoga and Research Centre and the International Yoga Academy. Only then, upon receipt of the Certificate, can students register with Yoga Alliance through our assistance.

Q:  Am I still eligible to take your training courses although I’m suffering from an injury?

A:  Yes, you are. When you fill up our online application form, there is a field where you are asked to mention your injuries and health conditions. Please be accurate and as detailed as possible, so that our faculty may know how to address your injury and teach you the right postural modifications, as well as some yoga therapy techniques.

Q:  What type of vaccinations I need to take before my trip to India. Do you have mosquito nets in your place?

A:  We provide mosquito nets in our place and we keep our place and surroundings very clean to maintain high standards. For vaccinations, we advise you to consult your health care provider to get more details.

Q: What’s the accommodation like?

A:  The current venue of the school has limited accommodation. Students who have opted for the residential course will stay in school.  The accommodation is fully furnished for a comfortable stay of the students. Each room is provided with attached bathroom, wardrobe, writing table, television, intercom, hair dryer, air conditioner, free Wi-Fi, bath towels, Laundry facilities are also available within the same venue or nearby laundry shops.

Q: How to arrange for food?

A: There are many restaurants and organic shops, juice bars and cafe shops nearby the school. Finding a good quality vegetarian food nearby is not difficult.

Q: What if I can’t make it to the course on the last minute? What is your refund policy?

A: The 50% deposit made in confirmation of the student’s enrollment is strictly non-refundable. Students can opt to change their course schedule to a later date, or transfer their slot to a friend. Otherwise, 50% of the course fee can be refunded via bank transfer or PayPal given that the student has already paid for the course in full, and made their cancellation before the course has begun. All bank charges incurred in the process will be shouldered by the student.

Cancellation within 30 days of the course’s start day will incur a cancellation fee equivalent to 50% of the total course fee. No refund will be made once the course has begun.

Q: I am prepared to come to India for the course. How is the airport pickup arranged?

A:  Send us your flight itinerary. We will have an officer/driver waiting at the airport holding a sign with the college logo and your name. You’ll find the officer at the arrival hall after you get your luggage and receive clearance at the customs.

Before your flight, please make sure that you have applied for an Indian Visa. All passports need a visa to enter India.

Q: What to expect from this teacher training?

A:  Prepare for a residential intensive yoga training under the tutelage of one of the most respected yoga Guru Dr. Asana Andiappan and his senior Yoga Masters in India. Keep an open mind and no matter which school of yoga you may have practiced prior, this will be a life-changing experience, one of which you will always treasure.

We will try our best to make your stay as comfortable as possible and enable you to experience an authentic yogic lifestyle in India. Q: Can I first join 100hrs and then decide if I want to extend my training to 200hrs before the completion of the course? I can pay the difference in the fee.  for the additional hours.

A: Firstly the course hours you applied is confirmed based on the course dates, hours and course. You will not be able to extend or change the course hours during the study. However, after the completion of the first course, you can choose to continue the study as the next course by paying the full fee for that course. Certificates can be issued separately or together if you don’t have any breaks between the courses and if you have joined the same course.

Cancellation and Refund

Students may cancel their enrollment 30 days prior to the course’s commencement and get a 50% refund via bank transfer or PayPal if they have already paid the course fee in full. All bank charges incurred in the process shall be shouldered by the student.
